Several Greene County Volunteer Fire Departments are the recipients of more than $385,000 in grant money from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Grants are used to help fund projects, purchase equipment and train personnel.
Receiving money through the Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training grant program are Debusk Volunteer Fire Department for $118,600, St. James for $20,000 and Tusculum for $70,000.
Funds through the Rescue Squad grant program are to the Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department for $39,135, Town of Mosheim for $39,550, Camp Creek for $38,000, Caney Branch for $31,898.50 and the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad for $28,040.
A luncheon to honor the grant winners will be held this Thursday, September 4 in Morristown. More than $1.3 million in grants will be presented to departments and squads serving Hamblen, Greene, Jefferson, Cocke, Grainger, Hancock and Claiborne counties during the lunch.
