GEA Broadband Director Phil Bradley says he is more confident than he was earlier about GEA sharing a portion of the $11 million in federal grants to continue the companies efforts to provide GEA Connect broadband county wide.
Bradley notified GEA board members during their Tuesday meeting that he expects to hear results of the BEAD grant awards in about two weeks, with federal approval expected in early September 5th.
Bradley says the Greeneville Energy Authority upward adjustment of the local match for BEAD grants earlier this month and other requirements of satellite companies also bidding for the grants he’s not sure they will be able to meet, are reasons for his optimism.
