A man wanted in Pennsylvania was arrested Sunday after breaking into a home on Brown Springs Road.
The victim reported shortly after 5:30 AM he was woken up by his dog barking. He heard a loud crashing sound and the suspect, identified as George Sherk, entered the back door. Sherk reportedly said people were trying to kill him. Sherk then went into the victim’s living room and hid behind the TV. The victim was advised by dispatch to go outside and wait on deputies.
When police arrived on the scene, Sherk was located inside a locked bathroom. Due to having knowledge of Sherk having a knife, police staged outside the door until backup arrived.
When other deputies arrived, the door was breached and Sherk was given multiple commands to exit the bathroom. Sherk did not comply, was removed from the bathroom, and taken into custody.
Sherk was discovered to have a warrant out of Pennsylvania. He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for aggravated burglary, disorderly conduct, being a fugitive from justice, and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search.
