Fire was reported early Sunday morning at a home in Afton.
Emergency personnel responded around 5:00 AM to the home at 740 Tyne Gray Road. The residents of the home were asleep when one of them smelled smoke and heard the sound of a goat crying on the back porch. According to a report filed with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, there were multiple goats in a wooden crate on the back porch with a heat lamp.
The three occupants got out of the home safely. One of the residents attempted to extinguish the fire that had started on the back wall of the residence at the porch where the animals were crated, but was unsuccessful.
