Tennessee Governor Bill Lee kicked off the Tennessee America 250 celebration in Greene County Tuesday morning.
GOVERNOR LEE OPENING COMMENTS
Lee announced he plans to travel to all 95 counties over the next year or so to promote the year-long, statewide celebration marking 250 years of American independence.
The governor also signed the Farmland Preservation Act during his Greene County stop.
The Rock Field Farm, owned and operated by Wayne and Pamela Hughes was the location for the event Tuesday morning.
Wayne Hughes says the Farmland Preservation Act remembers those before him and protects those farmers moving forward.
Also joining the governor were Lt. Governor Randy McNally, Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture Charlie Hatcher, House Speaker Cameron Sexton and Tennessee Farm Bureau President Eric Mayberry.
The governor also stopped at similar events in Tipton and Williamson counties yesterday.
