Saying he is frustrated with the progress, or actually the lack there of of the CTE additions at Chuckey Doak and West Greene, architect Dave Wright addressed the Greene County Board of Education Thursday afternoon.
Wright reported Project Managers at both sites say the additions will be ready by January. For that to happen Wright says there is lots of work to do over the next six months.
Wright projects the Chuckey Doak addition is only 36% complete and the West Greene site is 57% finished.
A question from school board member Larry Bible about possible liquidated damages for the overdue project was met with the response that the contract for the construction carries no such stipulation. Wright says including such clauses would have increased the cost of the project by $1.5 to $1.6 million dollars. Wright says consultation with the County Attorney over the continued delays is not out of the question.
Despite the delay in the actual buildings being ready when school opens, Director of Schools Malone says CTE teachers are being hired and classes related to the CTE will begin in August, prior to moving into the new buildings after the Christmas break.
