The 15th marks the 4th anniversary of the disappearance of 5-year-old Summer Wells in Hawkins County.
A statement which was released earlier this week from the Sheriff’s Office reads in part:
The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively work on this case each day. We are still receiving tips that must be thoroughly vetted and validated. Additionally, we continue to monitor and address the spread of misinformation on social media platforms, including content shared by YouTubers and other sources.
Summer Wells went missing on June 15, 2021, and … we want to reassure the public that this case has not been forgotten – and it never will be, until some form of closure is found.
From WGRV’s original story in 2021:
Summer Wells was last seen on Tuesday evening (June 15th) in the Beech Creek Community wearing grey pants, a pink shirt, and no shoes. She is 3-feet-tall and weighs around 40 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
An endangered child alert was initially issued for Wells on Tuesday evening, but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a statewide AMBER Alert for Wells late Wednesday morning.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Summer Wells is asked to call the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office at 272-7121 or 1-800-TBI-FIND.
