Another area school system has approved the $2,000 bonus for teachers made possible under the school voucher program legislation approved during a special session of the legislature in January.
The Bristol, Tennessee Board of Education approved the one-time bonus last night. Eligible part-time employees in that system will get a $1,000 bonus.
A resolution calling for the bonus for Greene County School System teachers is on the agenda for their Thursday meeting.
The bonus is not on the agenda for today’s meeting of the Greeneville City Board of Education.
School Boards across the state have until June to either opt in or out of the bonuses.
Those will be paid in July.
