Units from the Orebank Volunteer Fire Department and others responded to a working structure fire around 7 pm Thursday in the 300 block of West Hogan Lane.
Angelia Luttrell reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department she was pulling into the driveway when she noticed smoke coming from inside the home. She ran to open the door and allow animals inside to escape.
The fire may have begun where an air conditioning unit was plugged into an outlet. Orebank reports they were able to access the scene through difficult terrain and managed to knock down the mobile home fire in time to salvage some personal belongings. The home however, valued at $80,000, was destroyed.
Mutual Aid assistance was provided by the Caney Branch and Debusk Volunteer Fire Departments. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Greeneville/Greene County EMS and Greeneville Energy Authority also responded along with Chaplains Shannon and Danny Ricker.
