Contacted after the meeting last night, State Representative David Hawk of Greeneville said he appreciates the county moving forward on a project the he believes will be a jumpstart for others to locate on the property.
Hawk said “the State of Tennessee is glad to be able to support a new Greene County and locating a new Health Department on the site of the Greene County Developmental Center. This is going to be the first project. It will hopefully serve as a seed project to bring even more business to that location.”
As it pertains to the rest of the former property which the state is currently developing Hawk said, “as folks are seeing now there’s property being developed. It’s going to become a new facility to serve folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities where the old Greene Valley administrative buildings use to be.” Hawk continued “very soon we are going to be breaking ground on a new college of applied technology, a new technology certer for higher education on the campus of Greene Valley. So these three substancial projecdts are really hugh for Greene County as we move forward and redevelop that to help our citizens”.
