A woman was killed early Tuesday evening when the motorcycle on which she was riding was struck by a pickup truck that ran a red light.
Just before 6:00 Tuesday evening, a 2019 Harley-Davidson trike was at the traffic light at the intersection of the East Andrew Johnson Highway and Justis Drive. The driver, 63-year-old Walter Moore, pulled out to turn left but was struck by an eastbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 67-year-old Grover Mullins, which had failed to stop for the red light.
The passenger on the cycle, 62-year-old Janice Moore, was fatally injured. Walter Moore was injured in the collision and flown to Johnson City for treatment. Both riders were wearing helmets.
Mullins was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. Charges are pending according to the report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
