Several arrests were made on Sunday on assault charges by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies went to a home in the 2600 block of Bright Hope Road around 7:00 Sunday evening and were told by the victim that he had been arguing with 48-year-old Derek Fleming when Fleming hit him with a piece of wood from a light fixture.
The victim went to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, and Fleming was charged with aggravated assault. Fleming was also served a warrant for a violation of probation.
On Sunday afternoon, 29-year-old Nicholas McCoy of West Allens Bridge Road reportedly threatened to slash the tires of a woman at a home on Fairview Road. During the altercation, McCoy allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck and then slammed her down onto a bed.
Sunday morning, a woman at a home on the Asheville Highway said that 45-year-old Joshua Fortner had grabbed her by the arm during an argument. Fortner was located at a home on Whirlwind Road and charged with aggravated assault and a violation of an order of protection.
