Women’s Golf in fifth place after day one of St. Simons Intercollegiate

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — The Tusculum University women’s golf team posted a 36-hole total 625 on Monday and is in fifth place after the opening day of the 2024 St. Simons Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the 5,801-yard, par 72 King and Prince Golf Club.

The Pioneers opened the day with a 311 total and closed out Monday’s action with 314 as TU is fifth in the 14-team field.

Tusculum junior Reagan Padilla was the low Pioneer of the day as she shot 74-76=150 and is tied for eighth place. Freshman Maylei Hildenbrand is 12th with 77-74=151, graduate student Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen is 30th with 77-81=158, junior Lindsay Self shot back-to-back rounds of 83-83 to posted 166 which is 50th. Junior Annabelle Mozingo rounds out the Tusculum scoring with 87-85=172 and is 66th.

Flagler has a commanding 37-stroke lead as the Saints are five-under par as a team with 283-288=571. Host Lincoln Memorial is second with 608, Union (Tenn.) is third with 614, Mount Olive is fourth with 619 and Tusculum rounds out the top-five with 625.

Catawba is sixth with 626, followed by Embry-Riddle (634), Texas A&M-Kingsville (640), UNC Pembroke (641), Trevecca Nazarene (650), Shorter (652), North Greenville (656) and Spring Hill (662).

Flagler has three players in the top-four led by Stella Jelinek who shot 68-69=137 (-7) and is two shots clear of teammate Henriette Stranda with 67-72=139 (-5).

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m
