After many days and long hours by utility workers across the county, most of Greene County is able to wake up and take a shower this morning.
Water service has been restored to most areas of the county with a few exceptions. Through the weekend, Chuckey Utility district still has no water and parts of the Horse Creek and Middle Creek areas. A new connection was made for Chuckey to receive water from Jonesborough. That brought water to areas near South Central. Areas south of the river near Chuckey Pike, Snapps Bridge and surrounding areas should see their water back soon, but could still experience low pressure as the system stabilizes. Areas north of the river served by Chuckey should all be with water.
Work continues on boring underneath the river at Earnest Bridge and installing a temporary line across the river where Kinser Bridge was washed away on the Erwin Highway. That line feeds the Horse Creek and Middle Creek areas and continues all the way to South Central School
Glen Hills is still working to restore water to some areas around Popular Springs and Cedar Creek. A leak discovered in a line impacted their ability to fill storage tanks to help supply that area.
The Greeneville Water Commission was able to supply water to the county districts early Saturday morning. Those county district lines were slowly filled along with their storage tanks and pressurized.
