Greeneville City Schools recognized Cathy Dickey, Suzanne Bryant, and others on Tuesday during the school board meeting.
Director of Schools Steve Starnes congratulated Dickey and said she was honored with a prestigious award, Greeneville City Schools Eastview Elementary Teacher of the Year, and received a proclamation from the Tennessee Senate. He said this award highlights her exceptional commitment to education and profound impact on the students in the community.
Bryant was recognized as the GCS Supervisor of the Year and also received a proclamation from the Tennessee Senate upon her retirement as Assistant Director of Schools for Curriculum and Instruction. Starnes said Bryant was known for her unwavering commitment to the success of students. He added she played a pivotal role in shaping the instruction programs within Greeneville City Schools.
Treasurer of the board Josh Quillen and board member Pam Botta were celebrated during the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Fall District Meeting. Both were recognized with the Level III Boardmanship Award as well as Crystal Hirschy, who was awarded the Level II Boardmanship Award.
According to Director of Schools Steve Starnes, the award is given to school board members who are dedicated and invest their time and effort into becoming more informed and effective as a board member. The award is also intended to encourage their professional growth and is given to members who have participated in activities outside of local school board obligations.
