The Greeneville City School Board of Education gave recognition to AP Scholars during their meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
AP Scholars are students who scored 3 or higher on three or more Advanced Placement (AP) exams. There were also AP Scholars with Honors, students that scored 3.25 or higher on all their AP exams, while also scoring 3 or more on at least four exams. Richard Tipton spoke about the AP Scholars and said that a mixture of the students are juniors and seniors. He added some were not able to make it to the meeting as they are now in college.

The school board welcomed the new student board representative for the 2024-25 school year, Bethanie Bryant. Bryant expressed during the meeting that she was thankful and happy to be on the board. She is excited and is looking forward to a good year. Chairwoman of the school board Cindy Lutrell said that Bryant is very involved in the community and is in several local programs, like Youth Council. She hopes to use the leadership and communication skills she has learned throughout her journey for a career in Biology. She said Bryant is dedicated to her community and to making the world a better place.
2,908 students have enrolled into Greeneville City Schools. The number of enrolled students could grow as the semester continues, according to Lutrell. Director of Schools Steve Starnes said there are about 50 additional students enrolled this year, compared to the last school year.
