The Hazardous Household Waste Collection Event is on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 in the Hal Henard Elementary School parking lot at 425 East Vann Road.
This free event allows the community to bring hazardous household materials to be recycled or disposed of. The collection only happens once a year, so mark your calendars for September 7th from 9 AM to 1 PM.
Items accepted include:
- Household Cleaners: Drain openers, oven cleaners, wood cleaners and polishers, metal cleaners and polishers, toilet bowl cleaners, disinfectants.
- Automotive Products: Fuel additives, grease and rust solvents, air conditioning refrigerants, starter fluids, body putty, coolants, carburetor and fuel injector cleaners.
- Lawn and Garden: Herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers.
- Home Maintenance Chemicals: Paint thinners, wood preservatives, paint strippers and removers, adhesives.
- Miscellaneous Items: Fingernail polish remover, pool chemicals, photo processing chemicals, medicines and drugs, reactive materials, aerosols, compressed gas, mercury thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, lead, needles or sharps in containers.
Please note that batteries, oil, and oil-based paint are accepted daily at any Greene County Convenience Center.
