The Greene County Commission will meet this evening at 6 PM at the Greene County Courthouse on 101 South Main Street.
On the agenda for approval is a purchase for the Solid Waste Department for $225,000 for a Volvo Roll-Off. This purchase will replace the current roll-off at the department and could reportedly take up to 18 months to be delivered.
The county commission will consider approving the appropriation of $25,000 for Information Technology Maintenance and K9 Training for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. If approved, this training will allow handlers and their K9 to attend together. Usually, there is individual training for the dog, but according to Chief Deputy David Beverly, this training will allow the handlers and their K9s to train together. $22,000 goes toward the annual IBM Watson maintenance fees, and $3,000 goes toward the handler training.
There is also a consideration to authorize the appropriation of $145,000 for the Licensed Ambulance Services Essential Equipment Grant. Greene County has been awarded the grant and will use the funds to purchase eight chest compression systems.
Additionally, the county commission will consider approving the resolution authorizing up to $500,000 for the CDBG-CV Food Insecurity Grant. This helps Greene County support food insecurity initiatives, helping alleviate hunger, and gives Greene County access to nutritious foods for its residents.
