A Greeneville man was charged after leaving the scene of an accident Wednesday afternoon on Erwin Highway.
Dennis Askland of South Mill Road was involved in the accident at the Marathon station on Erwin Highway and gave the victim his information. He then reportedly got back into his Ford F-150 and fled the scene.
While fleeing, Askland drove over the curb in the parking lot and almost struck another vehicle head on as he was pulling onto Erwin Highway.
Askland was later charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving damage. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department report, Askland stated he left because of his tag being expired.
