The Greene County Commission will meet this evening and discuss a resolution to amend the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year General Fund to budget revenues received for civic penalties imposed on vendors by the Greene County Beer Board for selling to under age adults.
During an undercover operation conducted by school resource officers with the Sheriff’s Department, a vendor sold to a person underage. The topic came up at the last Budget and Finance meeting. A resolution was made right before the meeting ended earlier in the month, to amend the General Fund to budget revenues for fines and penalties given by the Beer Board. The committee agreed that Greene County is one of the few counties that enforce these fines.
The agenda include a resolution to appropriate $2600 to the Sheriff’s Department for funds received from a donation for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2023. The donation received from Steve Dockery, will go towards law enforcement equipment for their purchase of a new Kevlar Vest for the K9 program.
A resolution will be considered to appropriate funds for over $24,000 to the Sheriff’s Department for the sale of over 100 confiscated weapons. Sheriff Wesley Holt said there were 136 guns sold.
The Greene County Commission will meet tonight at the Greene County Courthouse, in the Criminal Courtroom at 6 PM.
