A burglary investigation led to the arrest of a man early Saturday morning along the Asheville Highway.
Greeneville police were called to a home in the 1100 block of Forest Street around 3:40 Saturday morning after a resident said that he had returned home and discovered that his house had been ransacked. A man in dark clothing and wearing a mask was found in the back bedroom, and the two engaged in a small scuffle.
The suspect dropped a bag containing socks that belonged to the victim as he ran out the front door in the direction of Light Street. A K-9 was deployed in an attempt to track the suspect, but was not successful.
About 90 minutes later, police located Luke Cutshall in the 600 block of the Asheville Highway. Cutshall appeared to be under the influence and had a backpack that contained multiple clothing items, including socks that matched those owned by the victim.
Cutshall was booked on a charge of public intoxication while the investigation into the burglary continues.
