A man was charged with animal cruelty after he was seen hitting a dog with a stick by a witness.
Greeneville police responded to the 700 block of the West Andrew Johnson Highway around 2:30 Saturday afternoon after a witness saw 32-year-old Wesley Chrisman of Rolling Hills Road hitting a dog with a stick.
The witness also had video of Chrisman jerking the dog around, and other witnesses said they saw Chrisman throw the dog in the road. The dog had noticeable marks on its face and paws, according to the report, and was taken to Animal Control.
During a records check, it was discovered that Chrisman had a violation of probation. A set of digital scales with residue was confiscated and placed into evidence to be destroyed.
