Volunteers from several fire departments remain on the scene this afternoon of a structure fire near 1320 South Allens Bridge Road.
South Greene Volunteer Fire Chief David Weems said that the Cedar Creek, St. James, and South Greene Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire at 1320 South Allens Bridge Road just before 12:30 PM. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the structure fully involved. The fire had spread to a nearby automobile, and was threatening a propane tank near the rear of the structure. The fire had heated the tank to the point that it has started ventilating excessive pressure through a relief valve.
Volunteers from the Caney Branch and Debusk fire departments, as well as the Debusk Rehab Unit responded. Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department sent a fire engine to South Greene on standby to provide coverage in the area in the event of other calls.
EMS, Greeneville Energy Authority, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
There were no injuries reported.
