Two men were taken into custody after allegedly fleeing from police Monday afternoon.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department received information around 5:15 PM of a red Mustang with Virginia plates stopping at houses in the Asheville Highway and Houston Valley Road area.
The car was reportedly driven by Spencer Feezell of Fillers Mill Road, who had active warrants for violation of probation and theft. An off-duty deputy came in contact with the Mustang at Creekside Market on Asheville Highway. The deputy spoke to Feezell about his warrants and advised him to not leave due to on-duty deputies being en route.
Feezell then reportedly fled the parking lot with Joshua Carter of Asheville Highway in the passenger seat. The tag on the vehicle was discovered to have been switched. The car traveled at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for lights and sirens. The vehicle continued speeding before sliding to a stop in an old store parking lot in the 3700 block of Houston Valley Road. Deputies then witnessed Carter jump from the driver’s seat to the passenger’s seat.
Carter said he only began driving around Rollins Chapel Road after Feezell took off running on foot from the car. Carter was charged with evading arrest, driving on a suspended license 1st offense, and violation of registration.
A short time later, deputies received a report that Feezell was attempting to fight another motorist. He was taken into custody around the 800 block of Houston Valley Road.
