The consideration to accept a warranty deed for the pocket park parcel located on 116 South Main Street was approved by the Greeneville City Council Tuesday.
The pocket park is also known as the ‘Eagle’s Rest’ and the intention has been to convert it into a pedestrian pass-through. Jan Mirkov, Executive Director at Main Street: Greeneville, Inc., said since the early 2000’s they have been working with the Town Of Greeneville to get the deed transferred. Mirkov says that is now possible.
A section of a fence at the pocket park was taken down about a week ago. Now Mirkov is hoping to add some lighting. The plan is for the parcel to coincide with Main Street.
The Greenville Police Department was approved to participate in the Tennessee Highway Safety Office grant. The non-matching grant for almost $21,000 was awarded to the Department and will allow for the purchase of additional equipment. It will also pay for overtime at the department.
Consideration was granted to re-appoint Gary Compton, Broderick Gillespie, Sarah Webster, and Roger Woolsey to the Greeneville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for a 4-year term.
Additionally, a bid was approved for almost $36,000 for restoration at the Tennis Facility located at 1209 Hal Henard Road. It includes the replacement of sheetrock in the entire building, installation of insulation in walls, Vinyl Plank flooring and baseboards, a crawl space and more.
