A Greeneville woman reported she was scammed after attempting to rent a residence on Monument Avenue.
According to the police report, the victim contacted a “Michael’s Rental Property” on Facebook and spoke with someone who allegedly represents the company. The person requested a $70 application fee to be sent through a Google Play card.
The victim purchased the card on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the suspect was requesting an additional $300 deposit. The victim reportedly purchased another Google Play card and sent it to the suspect.
After some research, she discovered the property was listed with Century 21 and realized she was scammed.
