The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee will host a public reading of the United States Constitution to celebrate Constitution Day on Friday, September 15, 2023.
The event will be held on the steps of the James H. Quillen United States Courthouse, located at 220 West Depot Street, Greeneville, Tennessee, from 11:30 a.m. to approximately 1:00 p.m. Members of the public, school groups, and members of the bar are invited to join the Court in commemorating the document and law that form the bedrock of our nation by reading the Constitution in segments of one minute or less. Students from elementary school through college are invited to participate, and several area school systems, including Greeneville City Schools, Greene County Schools, and Hamblen County Schools, have confirmed participation, and additional sign-ups are underway.
If you would like to read a segment, please check in at the bottom of the courthouse steps when you arrive. Please note that you do not have to arrive at 11:30 a.m. to read, you may arrive at any time during the event, so long as readings remain available.
