A home at 414 East Ridges Drive in Chuckey was damaged by fire Thursday night after a lightning strike.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene shortly after 9 PM. The homeowner said lightning struck his home and caused a fire in the basement. The Limestone Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene and stated the lightning caused an electrical fire around the home’s inside air unit.
The fire was extinguished by the homeowner prior to the fire department’s arrival. The upper level flooring was burned underneath and electrical wires were burned. A propane line was damaged as well.
No injures were reported.
