The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two vehicle thefts that were reported on Wednesday.
Joshua Howard of Jonesborough left a 2004 tan GMC Sierra parked on Ripley Island Road. He was arrested last Friday for an active warrant. The vehicle was left at the address, with the keys on the floorboard. When Howard was released from jail on Wednesday, he went to pick up the vehicle and noticed it was not there. The vehicle is valued at $1,800.
A red 2004 Toyota Highland was reported stolen from a shop on Jim Kirk Road. The victim said that he passed by his shop around 2:00 AM Wednesday and saw the vehicle was sitting at the shop. Around 2:15 PM, he came back and it was gone. The vehicle had been sitting there for two years and did not run. It was sitting beside a silver one and the victim had planned to do an engine swap.
