Showers and thunderstorms will move across the area tonight into Thursday, some of the storms may be strong to severe with damaging winds as the primary threat.
According to the National Weather Service, large hail is possible and there is a low threat of an isolated tornado. EMA Director Heather Sipe says risk with this system is mainly south of our area and over the plateau and central portions of Tennessee, but with any severe weather system, the risk is present.
In addition, heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding. Rainfall totals could be up to 1 inch. Sipe says the rainfall totals may not seem extreme, but our area is very saturated from multiple rounds of rainfall since last Thursday. The Flooding potential is definitely there.
