A man wanted on a criminal violation of probation warrant is facing an additional charge after allegedly resisting arrest.
Deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded Tuesday afternoon to a residence on Old Jonesboro Road in Chuckey to conduct a warrant check for Daniel Schofield.
Upon their arrival, Schofield was out in the yard swinging a metal pipe. He dropped the pipe and then began to lay down next to his dog. Deputies gave Schofield multiple commands, but he reportedly refused to cooperate. Deputies then pulled Schofield away from the dog, where he passively resisted arrest by tensing up and tucking his arms underneath his body while lying face down on the ground.
According to the report, deputies used the least amount of force needed to place Schofield into handcuffs. In addition to his outstanding warrant, Schofield was charged with resisting arrest.
