A counterfeit bill was reported to the Greeneville Police Department on Thursday.
An employee of Greeneville Federal Bank found a counterfeit $100 in a night deposit made by the Shoe Department on East Andrew Johnson Highway.
An employee with the store figured out the money was passed around 5:15 PM on Wednesday. A man, who is a rewards member of the store, reportedly came in and said he was in a hurry. He chose a bag valued at $89 and paid for the item with the fake $100 bill. The suspect left in a gold car, possibly an Oldsmobile.
