The Municipal Planning Commission approved a plat for a parcel of land that will be developed as a Planet Fitness Facility at 600 West Andrew Johnson Highway.
The plat creates two new parcels where one will have the facility and is a part of Phase 1 and the other parcel would be developed in Phase 2, according to the Planning Director. Lots were separated so that if desired one of the lots could be sold separately in the future, but a restaurant was mentioned at a point.
The developers would’ve liked Planet Fitness to open sooner but Planning Director Randy Davenport says there were a few supply chain issues that slowed them down as well as weather delays. They’re still pushing to complete the job sooner than later. The planning commission only approved Phase 1 of the project, which is the facility; Phase 2 has not yet been approved.
