Simple Assault was reported from a Lakeshore Park resident yesterday afternoon.
The complainant stated the suspect showed up at his residence and began an altercation due to a roofing job not being completed at his home. According to the report, it wasn’t completed because the man did not pay the full amount of funds requested. He told the suspect to leave when he allegedly pulled out his cane, struck him twice, and tried to retrieve a blade that was inside his cane. At that point the complainant pushed him down and the suspect reportedly struck him again. He was told to leave and stated he would return after getting his gun.
Deputies spoke with the alleged suspect who stated the situation was a set up. He said he was asked by someone to go to the complainant’s residence about the job and once he arrived he was met by the victim, who initiated the altercation and was the aggressor. He stated he struck him with his cane in attempt to get the man off him. He then reportedly was knocked onto the ground when his caretaker came out from the vehicle to brake up the altercation. Both were advised of the procedure for civil prosecution.
