Planning Director Randy Davenport wanted to give Greeneville Municipal Planning Commissioners information regarding the site on East Andrew Johnson Highway near Harlan Street, where there is a new Fast Pace Urgent Care.
Developers are still planning to add more to the site including a 10,000 square foot restaurant. According to Davenport, he says many in town have requested this restaurant should be added. They also plan to build a smaller restaurant, a drive-thru, and a retail store. The plans haven’t been submitted by developers yet.
Some installments will be required to reduce traffic congestion in that area. Planning Director Davenport says the Tennessee Department of Transportation has already approved a new turning lane that will be added for the property and a new entrance will also be placed lining up with Serral Drive. Even with the turning lane there is still some concern for traffic with possibly over 1,000 additional cars on the road. Davenport says with the new housing being constructed, this is something for the commissioners to think about.
A suggestion was made for developers to do a traffic impact study and add in a traffic turning signal. The same developers own the property behind the Fast Pace Urgent Care site and are speaking of clearing the trees in that area to possibly add a 72-unit apartment complex.
