A joint meeting has been rescheduled today for the Town of Greeneville and Greeneville City Schools Board of Education and they will continue the discussion of a new school system.
There will be a presentation from results on the negotiation for the purchase of the Jeff Woods Memorial property, which was approved at the January 10th meeting by the boards. The negotiation was approved after a plan was discussed on how to move forward with the process of building a new school system. That was a concern for many parents and teachers as the student population continues to increase.
The property is located behind the fairgrounds and would allow safer access to the new school as well as more space for potential sports fields. The potential school site would be a two-story Middle School with a 600-seat auditorium and has space for an additional 16 classrooms. After discussing the results the boards will consider the purchase of the Jeff Woods Memorial property.
There will also be a discussion and consideration of securing services for an Educational Planning Consultant. The meeting will be held at Kathryn Leonard Central Office Professional Development Center on 129 West Depot Street.
