A Greeneville man was arrested for drug possession and DUI at the gas pumps near Walmart on East Andrew Johnson Highway on Thursday.
An officer with the Greenville Police Department responded shortly after 8:00 Thursday morning. An employee reported that a man, identified as Joshua Roberts of East Stagecoach Road, had been sleeping in his truck at the gas pumps for three hours. The employee had attempted to wake Roberts up, but he was slumped over in the driver’s seat upon police arrival.
Roberts stepped out of the truck and had a strong odor of alcohol on his person. He consented to a search and a hydrocodone pill was found in his pocket. A cup was in the center console of his vehicle that smelled of alcohol.
Roberts performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI and possession of a schedule 2 drug.
