A forged check written on the account of a Greeneville business was deposited for nearly $4,900 earlier this month, according to police.
An employee of American Calendar told police that last week, a check with the company’s account and routing numbers from Heritage Community Bank had been printed and deposited with an Iowa-based credit union. The employee said that American Calendar’s checks are not the same as the one used in the forgery, and did not know how the bank information was acquired in order to make the transaction.
The forged check was in the amount of $4,880 according to the report from the Greeneville Police Department.
