The High Wind Warning for Southeast Greene County will be in effect Thursday from 4:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
South winds 25 to 35 mph and gusts from 40 up to 60 mph are possible in the mountains and foothills.
Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
By late Friday, prepare for the colder weather as a system is expected to develop and impact portions of the eastern U.S. Saturday into Sunday, bringing rain and snow. Impacts for our area remain low, but higher elevations could see accumulating snowfall.
