The Budget and Finance Committee met yesterday morning and approved the resolution to appropriate $2600 to the Sheriff’s Department for funds received from a donation for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2023.
Sheriff Wesley Holt said the donation from Steve Dockery will go towards law enforcement equipment for their purchase of a new Kevlar Vest for the K9 program. Sheriff Holt also wanted to let the committee know of the recent Civil Service Test that was given at the department. Results from the tests have showed numerous times that not enough people are taking or passing the test and it’s causing an issue with staffing.
The sheriff said primarily there are more female officers that are needed at the moment, and more females are needed to take the Civil Service Test. The sheriff states that they’ve been eating up there over time budget and currently are at about 54%. He asked for the committee to consider this when looking at their budget.
Over $24,000 was approved for funds to the Sheriff’s Department that were received from a sale of over 100 confiscated weapons. Sheriff Wesley Holt said there were 136 guns sold.
The resolution to amend the Greene County Schools Budget for changes in revenue and expenditures for fiscal year 2022-2023 was also approved.
