A Greeneville man who was found asleep in a vehicle was arrested for DUI on Monday night.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s department responded to the 1200 block of South Wesley Chapel Road around 11:45 PM to find Danny Smith of Mulberry Road asleep in the driver’s seat of a truck with the key in the ignition. The truck was partially in the roadway and in a nearby yard.
The deputy woke Smith up, who reportedly had an odor of alcohol on his person. An open bottle of liquor was in the floorboard of the truck. A field sobriety test was not performed due to Smith stating he has a long hisotry of medical issues and surgeries, including back surgery.
Smith was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI 1st offense.
