Greeneville City Schools has announced that Richard Tipton will be the new Assistant Director of Schools for Curriculum and Instruction and Dr. Jason Horne as the Assistant Director of Schools for Administration. The announcements were made Thursday by the Greeneville City Schools.
Tipton will oversee all teaching and learning aspects of the district, collaborating closely with teachers and the instructional staff within the district to grow and enhance educational outcomes. Tipton has taught math at the middle and high school levels, served as an Instructional Specialist for grades 6-12, and served as interim assistant principal at Greeneville High School during the 2019-2020 school year. Tipton was most recently was the Principal of Tennessee Online Public School at Greeneville, where he built and launched the online school for grades K-5.
Horne will will oversee all administrative functions of the district. His background includes positions such as Secondary Supervisor and various other leadership roles within K-12 education. He previously served in Greeneville from 2006 to 2012, where he made significant contributions to the district. Dr. Horne holds an Educational Doctorate from East Tennessee State University and has been recognized for his contributions to educational leadership and innovation.
Horne will be replacing Mrs. Beverly Miller who is retiring after serving thirty years as the Chief Technology Officer and the past twelve years as Assistant Director of Schools for Administration. Tipton will be replacing Dr. Suzanne Bryant who is retiring after serving as the Assistant Director for Curriculum and Instruction for the past 14 years.
