A welfare check was made Tuesday afternoon that led to another suspect running away from deputies due to an active warrant.
Deputy Brandie Sullivan responded to 175 Starnes Hollow Lane in Greeneville for a welfare check on a female. She made contact with Blaine Severt, who was in the garage at the time. Deputy Sullivan asked where the female was, to which Severt replied that she was out in town with his nephew. Deputy Sullivan told the suspect she’d be back to check on the female later that day, and after arriving back to her vehicle she called dispatch to confirm if Severt had any warrants. When it was confirmed he had a warrant for Violation of Probation, Deputy Sullivan headed back to the garage, where the suspect was seen walking down a hill.
Deputy Sullivan told at Severt to come back, and at first he complied. When the deputy stated he had a warrant, Severt reportedly attempted to run away. Deputy Sullivan grabbed his shirt as he turned around, but it ripped as he ran away. She began running after the suspect warning him to stop, and did catch up, but he still refused to stop. She was able to tase him, but they both tripped and fell to the ground. Severt rolled down the hill and was able to get away from the deputy. A K-9 was brought to the scene, but was unable to track down the suspect.
