A Greeneville woman was arrested on Tuesday for a warrant, after a welfare check was made for dogs in the home.
Officers responded to the home on Warrensburg Road in reference to a welfare check of dogs in an abandoned residence. After arriving, a female was seen from the upper level of the home, who was known to have an active warrant. Officers gave several commands for her to exit but all were ignored. Back-up was called and after their arrival, officers made entry into the home. The woman had locked herself in the rear bedroom and stated she would rather die than exit.
After several attempts, the female gave officers the number to her mental health advocate, but still refused to exit. Eventually they made entry and found the female on her bed with a small handgun in her hand, pointing it at herself. A taser had to be utilized and incapacitated the female. The gun was removed safely and she was assisted out of the home. The home was found in poor condition, full of dog feces and severely diminished. EMS later arrived at the home and provided initial care, and the female was then arrested and transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
