The Greene County Commission unanimously approved the 2022-23 county budget at its meeting Monday night at the Greene County Courthouse.
The tax rate will remain unchanged for the upcoming fiscal year, which features a $31.3 million general purpose budget, $9.5 million for highway and public works and $5.4 million for both education debt service and capital projects.
The commission also approved appropriations for non-profit organizations. Commissioners also voted to name the Circuit Court courtroom in the memory of the late Gail Davis Jeffers. Jeffers, who served 18 years as Circuit Court Clerk from 1994 to 2012, passed away on May 18.
All agenda items were passed unanimously during Monday’s meeting, including a resolution to appropriate more than $850,000 in American Rescue Plan money as a local match to receive up to $7.7 million in grant money through the Tennessee Water Infrastructure Investment Program.
The Greene County Commission will next meet on Monday, July 18 at the Greene County Courthouse.
