Both Greeneville and Greene County Schools will dismiss early on Monday due to the solar eclipse.
Greeneville City Schools will dismiss middle and high school at 11:30 AM. Elementary schools in the city will dismiss at 11:45 AM. Lunch will be served before dismissal.
Greene County Schools will dismiss all schools at 11:30 AM.
Greeneville City Schools said that according to nasa.gov, our area will experience an 86.9% solar eclipse beginning at 2:33 p.m. The greatest eclipse coverage will be during the time of school dismissal. Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to dismiss school early.
Additionally, afternoon athletic programs and practices may begin at 5:00 p.m. or later in the city system.
