Steven William Richards, 42, of Highland, Michigan, formerly of the Stone Dam community of Chuckey, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.
Steven was the co-owner of Mechanical Appliance Repair Service, PLLC, having spent several years providing heating, air conditioning and appliance repair services throughout southwestern Colorado before recently relocating to Oakland County, Michigan.
Steven had a love for the great outdoors and an adventurous spirit. He was always ready for a new experience, a new destination or simply the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. He lived with a sense of adventure and leaves behind memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Steven is survived by his wife, Danielle Richards of Highland, Michigan; his mother, Heidi Keitz, also of Highland; his father, Jeffrey Richards of the Stone Dam community in Chuckey; and Cynthia Carter of Greene County, who was like a second mother to him. He is also survived by his daughter, Savannah Richards; his son, Seth Richards; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Jessica Lynn Richards of Highland, Michigan; paternal grandparents, Howard and Hazel Richards of the Stone Dam community; and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Yvonne Keitz of Grand Blanc, Michigan.
A graveside memorial service celebrating Steven’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at Stone Dam United Methodist Church in Chuckey, where his ashes will be laid to rest at his paternal grandmother’s gravesite. Pastor Jeremiah Lewis of Greeneville will officiate.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather at the Puddin’ Creek/Richards family homeplace immediately following the service for a time of fellowship, remembrance and sharing stories of Steven’s life.
