Kathryn Louise Bauer

Kathryn Louise Bauer, born April 15, 1959, passed away August 14, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

She was a loving mother, daughter, and friend to many. Kathryn was passionate about her connection to Holston Home for Children, where she worked for 30 years. Although she did not have biological children, she made a lasting impact on the lives of children through her work at Holston Home and through her many years of fostering and later adopting children.

Kathryn was often described as “the greatest woman we ever knew” because of her love for life, her joy, her ability to love everyone, and her genuine nature of never meeting a stranger.

She is survived by her children: Abigail Bauer, Katie Bauer, Hope Bauer, and Molly Bauer; grandchildren of the home: Gabriella Burgos, Zeon Edmonds, and Aizen Edmonds; brother: Hugh Bauer; sister: Terri (Paul) Bassett; lifelong friend: Brenda Forrester; close friends: Dewey and Patricia Peters, Wilbur and Angel Cox, and Sharonn and Jennifer Mincey; and two nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her daughters: Isabella Bauer and Angela Edmonds; brother: Richard Bauer; sister: Patricia Bauer; and parents: Willard and Joanne Evens.

In recognition of Kathryn’s dedication to Holston Home, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Holston Home for Children.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 PM Saturday, August 29, at The Rock (Holston Home’s church).
