Jerry R. Norton, 81, of Chuckey, passed away Wednesday evening at Johnson City Medical Center.
He retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center. He was a Christian.
Survivors include his daughter: Shannon Weems Norton Cutshall; one grandson: Joshua Calvin Ledford; two great-grandchildren: Izaiha Ledford and Liberty Ledford; three sisters, one brother, and three brothers-in-law: Eva and Guy Tweed of Monroe, North Carolina, Nancy and Jimmy Waddell of Limestone, Grady Norton of Chuckey, Jewel Newton of Greeneville, and George Payne of Greeneville; four nieces and two nephews; former son-in-law: William C. Ledford; and extended family: Clint Parker and family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Joe C. Norton and Hazel Norton; sister: Virginia Payne.
The family will receive friends at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. at GraceLand Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jonathan Jones will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Josh Ledford, Clint Parker, Mason Parker, Paul Laughlin, and George Payne. Bob Franklin will be an honorary pallbearer.
