Chester Martin Boyce Gosnell, 47, of Greeneville, Tennessee, known to family and friends as “Marty,” passed away peacefully Monday morning, surrounded by his loving family and those closest to him.
Marty fought courageously through his battle with colon cancer with remarkable strength and determination.
Marty will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and the lasting impact he has had on the lives of those around him. His legacy is one of perseverance, love, and the many memories he created with family and friends.
A few of his many interests and hobbies included problem-solving engineering, playing video games, building Lego sets, watching movie franchises such as Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and enjoying music—particularly Foo Fighters.
He is survived by two daughters, Destiny and Hallie Gosnell; grandson, Jensen Cobble; mother, Carolyn Dunbar-Dean; mother of his children, Amanda Gosnell; siblings, Adam Dean, Sarah Darnell, and Crystal Hawkins; his girlfriend and the love of his life, Haven Barnes; special friends, Lisa Foulks and Allison Nunley; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved deeply.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Melody Gosnell; dad, Junior Tipton; biological dad, Chester Gosnell; mamaw, Pansy Dunn; and long-time furry friend, Bandit.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 6, from 4-7 p.m. at the Jeffers Afton, TN, location. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery on Friday, August 7, at 11 a.m. for close friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Marty’s memory are invited to make a donation to Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Services in support of the family and funeral expenses.
Pallbearers include Keith Gosnell, Eric Lowery, Ronnie Wheeler, Brendan Cobble, and Peyton Lawson.
